Madeira Therapeutics to Present at Second Annual Boston Biotech R&D Conference

(BOSTON, MA; October 26, 2009) – Madeira Therapeutics announced today that Peter Joiner, CEO, will present at the 2009 Boston Biotech R&D Conference at 3:20 PM on October 27, 2009, at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. This conference will bring luminaries from top academic institutions that have been instrumental in establishing the strong Boston biotech community together with executives from several of the area’s most promising emerging biopharmaceutical companies, as well as leaders from the venture capital community and equity markets.

Peter Joiner will lead a session entitled “The Lack of Pediatric Pharmaceuticals.” “We are very pleased to be participating in the second annual Boston Biotech R&D conference,” he said. “The conference is an excellent forum to share information with other leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies in our community and highlight the advances being made by the cutting-edge research and development programs in the Boston area.”

Madeira Therapeutics, a Kansas-based company, is solely dedicated to providing real pediatric medicines – one of the few drug development companies with a specialized focus on this niche market. Madeira Therapeutics currently has two pediatric products in development: MT-001, the first ever liquid preparation of a statin for children and the elderly, and MT-003, a liquid preparation of an analgesic for the treatment of acute pain.

About Madeira Therapeutics
Madeira Therapeutics, LLC, is a privately held, specialty pharmaceutical company focused on providing safe and effective medicine to pediatric and geriatric patients, parents and the healthcare professionals that serve them. The Madeira strategy focuses on reformulating adult drugs for better dosage control in children. Madeira utilizes the FDA’s 505(b)(2) approval method, which relies in part on the regulatory agency’s findings for a drug previously approved for adults, thereby shortcutting FDA approval by years and saving tens of millions of dollars in development costs. The company’s lead program, MT-001, is the first ever liquid preparation of a statin developed for the geriatric and pediatric population. The second product is MT-003 for acute pain relief.
